The hi pot test is to be done to the total of coils (72 coils) short circuited and connected to a common point (The positive lead), the negative lead to ground. 2. Resistance test is not going to be done to individual coils, it will be done after coil connections between groups (TA/TB, TB/TC and TC/TA) and just after installation of power cables. 3. Surge test is done as individual coil before connections. Coils not being tested should be grounded. There are several options for configuring an automated tester depending on the test requirements. I want to discuss a number of issues which will affect the design and the cost of this tester. Is it possible to test the coils in groups after they have been connected to a common point in order to halve the number of test leads? With this method, all coils in a group are Hipot tested at the same time. Then each coil is resistance and surge tested to the common point individually. This allows the tester to have one test lead per coil plus a number of common points. Since the high voltage, high current relays are quite expensive this reduces the cost substantially. When performing the surge test of each coil, can the other coils be open circuit or do they need to be grounded? With many Kelvin test leads needing to be connected to the stator simultaneously and in the correct order, the design of the test fixture is important. We need to discuss these options. Will people be available who can discuss all of these requirements? Do we need to have a conference call with anyone from Erie during this visit?
